FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Project Homeless and Family Connect Seeking Local Vendors and Volunteers to Contribute to Upcoming Event
Reno, Nev. (January 9, 2020) – Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada is looking for local vendors and volunteers to contribute to the 12th annual Project Homeless and Family Connect event on Tuesday, January 28. Project Homeless and Family Connect is a nationwide event that aims to connect families and individuals experiencing homelessness with local service providers who can offer free medical care, social services, quality of life care and housing aid. The event will take place from 8 a.m. until 12 p.m. in the Reno Events Center, located at 400 N. Center Street in downtown Reno.
“At Catholic Charities, our goal is to move individuals and families out of poverty and toward sustainable living,” said Marie Baxter, CEO, Catholic Charities of Northern Nevada. “Finding social services and programs can be overwhelming when one doesn’t know where to start. Project Homeless Connect and Family Connect introduces local services to the homeless population and those living in poverty in our community so that they can get the help they need to turn their lives around.”
During the 2019 event, more than 80 local service providers came together to offer free care to over 1,000 community members experiencing homelessness. For the 2020 event a similar number of people are expected to attend.
The following vendors are still needed: Job Resources, Housing Resources, Disability Services, Family Services, Legal Services, Veteran’s Support Services, Medical and Dental Services, Faith Based Organizations, Domestic Violence Services, Lifeline Assistance Programs and Teen Services. The event is also seeking hair stylists to offer haircuts and volunteers to help during the event by directing people to services, handing out giveaway information, bussing tables and monitoring doors.
