McKensey Bagnell describes herself as someone who doesn’t stay stagnant for long. That is definitely an apt picture of her time at Complete Association Management Company LLC (CAMCO), where she recently was promoted to regional director.
Bagnell has been in the homeowners association management industry since 2013, although prior to that, she worked in a similar industry as a property manager for single-family home and apartment rentals. She started as an assistant and got her Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) designation in 2015. In 2018, she acquired her Supervising Community Management License, and she has completed almost all steps to earn her Association Management Specialist (AMS) license.
At the beginning of this year, Bagnell was working for another HOA management company in Las Vegas. She said she knew about CAMCO and CEO Joel Just within the industry and liked what she was hearing.
“I kind of saw in the industry the changes he was making, and they seemed like really good changes,” she said. “It seemed like he was making a really good difference in the lives of his employees, which was resulting in happy employees. So I decided to give it a shot when they had an opening to see what he is about and witness what he and CAMCO are doing firsthand.”
She joined CAMCO in February as a community manager with her sights set on growth, which came quickly. She was promoted to senior manager in July and to regional director in September.
In the new role, she will focus heavily on mentorship of the company’s community managers, making sure they have what they need day to day, and on building relationships with clients to ensure their needs are being met by those managers. Bagnell said she has a passion for mentorship, which is why she decided to pursue the position. And her boss notices that passion.
“Immediately after McKensey joined the CAMCO family, we saw her leadership and mentoring skills with some of our provisional managers. Her patience and guidance that she has is a true gift that has allowed her to grow with the company,” said Cyndi Koester, portfolio division director and Bagnell’s direct supervisor. “In her new role, she has blossomed into a leader, and her own personal growth and the leadership she has given her team is so rewarding to watch.”
Most of Bagnell’s goals center on that mentorship, ensuring her team gets the support they need to be high-quality managers, which should lead to retention of current clients and be a draw for more potential clients for the company. If that comes to fruition, it will bring her personal fulfillment.
“If my team succeeds, then I have succeeded,” she said. “I am honored to be the one selected to step up and take on leadership of the team. It definitely was exciting, although I know I have big expectations to fill.”
Outside of CAMCO, Bagnell is a member of the Nevada Association of Community Managers and Community Associations Institute, for which she will serve on a committee in 2020 to help plan one of its events. When she’s not working or attending events for those organizations, she is spending time with her husband and 3-year-old son.
