Reno, Nev. – Thanks to the generosity of citizens across Northern Nevada, hundreds of children will have a coat to keep them warm this winter.
For the past five years, First Independent Bank has supported the Hot August Nights Foundation’s annual coat drive to assist families whose children are in need of a winter coat.
Throughout the month of September, First Independent Bank encouraged the donation of new or gently used winter coats at locations throughout Northern Nevada. A total of 72 coats were collected and given to the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows for distribution to children in need.
“We sincerely appreciate the support of First Independent Bank’s clients and employees, as well as the general public, in helping meet the needs of children in our community.” said Jim DeVolld, managing director, commercial banking, First Independent Bank. “The coats not only provide protection and warmth for those in need but remind all of us how lucky we are to live in such a caring community.”
In November, the Hot August Nights Foundation held its annual coat drive and collected 240 winter coats during the Fall Frenzy, the Hot August Nights season close-out event. All donated coats are also given to the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows for distribution. This is the 13th year the Hot August Nights Foundation has conducted its coat drive, collecting an impressive 9,520 coats since 2007.
