Reno, Nev. – With students back in the classroom and Fall officially arriving next month, First Independent Bank and the Hot August Nights Foundation are teaming up to support Northern Nevada children in need of a warm winter coat.
Since 2015, First Independent Bank has joined with the Hot August Nights Foundation for their annual coat drive to help collect hundreds of coats which are donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Truckee Meadows to distribute to families in need.
Beginning Tuesday, September 3, 2019, and continuing through Monday, September 30, 2019, the public is encouraged to drop off new or gently used winter coats at any First Independent Bank location during normal business hours. All six First Independent Bank locations, including those in Reno, Sparks, Carson City and Fallon have a designated bin in the lobby to easily accept coat donations.
“We know that some children will be walking to and from school this winter without the benefit of a warm coat,” said Jim DeVolld, SVP, regional manager of First Independent Bank. “In joining with the Hot August Nights Foundation during their annual coat drive, we want to invite the community to help us address this need by donating a coat or two.”
First Independent Bank locations accepting coat donations in September include:
Kietzke Branch – 5335 Kietzke Lane, Reno
Robb Drive – 6290 Sharlands Avenue, Reno
Sparks Industrial – 980 South McCarran Boulevard, Sparks
Sparks Marina – 725 Sparks Boulevard, Sparks
Carson City – 1818 East College Parkway, Carson City
Fallon – 2061 West Williams Avenue, Fallon
All locations are open at 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday; 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
Those unable to drop off coats at First Independent Bank in September can drop off coats during the Hot August Nights season close out event, Fall Frenzy that will be held on October 5, 2019, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Baldini’s Sports Casino parking lot. The Foundation will be located in an easy drop off area within the event.
“The Hot August Nights Foundation annual coat drive has collected and distributed more than 8,500 coats since 2007,” said Mike Whan, executive director of Hot August Nights. “We are extremely humbled by how many children in our community go without a coat during the winter season. We couldn’t be more grateful to our community that donate to our coat drive helping us to rectify this situation for our local youth.”
A Nevada nonprofit, the Hot August Nights Foundation works year round to create an instrument for individuals and businesses who share the Foundation’s mission in working together to provide children in need or at risk in our community with a more meaningful and productive life through the availability of continuing and higher education.
