Breast cancer is one of the most common types of breast cancer in women, but 26 male community leaders in Las Vegas are showing that raising awareness and monetary support for breast cancer research isn’t just for women. This campaign is also raising awareness for breast cancer in men.
Complete Association Management Company LLC (CAMCO) CEO Joel Just is one of those 26, dubbed Real Men Wear Pink candidates for the American Cancer Society of Las Vegas, who have taken on the challenge of raising awareness and funding for research through the end of November.
Just said in videos posted on the community association management company’s Facebook page that the campaign “hits home” because several people in his family have been diagnosed with cancer, and his father died of complications from cancer.
“I am happy to be part of this Real Men Wear Pink campaign to support cancer patients and research,” he said. “I’m excited for what we can achieve and what we can raise.”
Real Men Wear Pink participants raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society’s breast cancer initiatives, including research, patient services, and education through screenings and risk reduction. Candidates commit to wear pink throughout October, bring attention to the cause through their social media networks and raise a minimum of $2,500 during the roughly four-month campaign. The top fundraiser will earn “bragging rights as the #1 Real Man,” according to the campaign website.
The CAMCO team has helped in the fundraising efforts by running a raffle for employees and hosting a Pink Trade Show. The company still has events planned, including participating in a cancer walk in October.
Community members can make donations on his candidate page at https://bit.ly/2m7p50C or by printing out the donation form online and mailing a check to the American Cancer Society, Attn: Real Men Wear Pink of Las Vegas, 6165 S. Rainbow Blvd., Ste. 12, Las Vegas, NV 89118.
“We support anything that helps cancer patients and we hope to raise a lot of money,” Just said.
