After more than three years as general manager of The Grove dispensaries, Tiffany Hoven has been named director of operations.
Her responsibilities in this new role include management of The Grove facilities, overseeing day-to-day operations, regulatory compliance and employee management. Hoven continues to oversee security operations, and is an integral part of the marketing team for The Grove. “I have my hands in all areas of this company, but fortunately I have amazing team members in place with whom I’m able to work effectively and successfully to operate a vertical operation of this size,” Hoven explained.
“Tiffany has been a part of the team since The Grove’s inception,” states Demetri Kouretas, CEO of The Grove. “Not only did she play a crucial role in establishing The Grove when the cannabis industry first started in 2015, but she has been instrumental in helping build a highly recognized, successful company.”
As the first employee of The Grove, Hoven assisted the company with all aspects of opening and operating their highly regulated medical dispensaries, including store design, employee training, creation and implementation of operating procedures, compliance management as well as the transition into recreational retail.
Her commitment to education led her to develop an intense training program to ensure staff has the knowledge needed to help customers effectively and efficiently. “I want our employees to be able to educate our customers on the benefits of this plant, from the terpenes and cannabinoids to possible consumption methods. My goal is to make customers feel safe and comfortable, which may help remove the negative stigma over cannabis,” Hoven said.
In addition, she created a fun, collaborative and charitable work environment for The Grove team, and implemented events and activities for customers, vendors and employees. “Our monthly customer and vendor appreciation days are a great way to celebrate and thank our awesome customers, while showing appreciation to our third-party vendors. We also organize monthly education days to help raise awareness of cannabis and specific medicinal products, as well as give our time volunteering at a local charity to help give back,” Hoven continued.
Hoven holds a nursing and a project management degree. After graduating college, her original plan was to join the world of big pharmaceuticals because she wanted to help people. After researching the benefits of cannabis for various ailments and seeing the advantages without any of the detrimental side-effects of prescription drugs, she decided that this path to helping others heal was meant for her.
“After witnessing people lose their direction, and even their life, to pharmaceuticals, I wanted to stand behind a natural, alternative option. I wanted to find something that truly helped people with pain, anxiety, disease or illness without the negative side effects of pharmaceuticals. I’ve personally seen the positives that can come from the use of medicinal cannabis, and am now blessed to be in a field that I believe in,” Hoven said.
