HENDERSON, NV – Do you have a great business idea and want to apply for the Start Tank competition, but didn’t have enough time? Then you’re in luck! The application deadline has been extended to Monday, August 12. Applicants must create a two-minute video posted to YouTube and complete the online application at hendersonnow.com/start-tank/.
Once applications close, semifinalists will be selected to participate in the initial pitch phase, which takes place on Aug. 17 at the College of Southern Nevada. All entrepreneurs participating in the competition will receive counseling and coaching from top industry experts and local business leaders, gaining exposure for their business idea and the potential to win cash or prizes.
The top five finalists will be invited to present their business idea on stage at the Henderson Chamber of Commerce Connect Expo on August 22 at the M Resort. Special guest and keynote presenter for this event is Kiersten Hathcock, CEO/Founder of Mod Mom Furniture and ABC’s Shark Tank winner, season two. That same night, a winner of the third annual Start Tank competition will be crowned!
“We are hungry for that next great business idea that we know is right here in our own community. Any entrepreneur who simply has an idea and wants real business advice, this competition is for you.” said Ken Chapa, the Acting City of Henderson’s Director of Economic Development and Tourism. “Ideas are heard and critiqued by experts who can help those ideas grow into a real business.”
In addition to Moonshot at NACET, the City of Henderson is partnering with the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, Bank of Nevada, Parallel Innovation Labs, Holland & Hart, Henderson Redevelopment Agency, College of Southern Nevada, Public Works Coffee Bar and TSK Architects for the competition.
