Carson City, Nevada – Home At Last™, a program of the Nevada Rural Housing Authority (NRHA), has presented Heather Battaglia, sales manager of Axia Home Loans located in Pahrump, Nev., with the prestigious Centennial Award for her work in helping more than 100 Nevada families obtain homeownership through the Home At Last™ Down Payment Assistance Program.
“Heather’s work changes lives for the better,” said Diane Arvizo, NRHA homeownership programs director. “It’s an honor to be able to recognizer her for her outstanding contributions in getting more Nevadans into affordable homeownership. She is truly a star.”
Battaglia has been in the mortgage industry for more than 25 years, and has been lending in Pahrump and the Nye County area for 17 years. She has been with Axia Home Loans since March 2014.
“I work in an area where potential homebuyers usually have the incomes for rent and bills, but don’t have excess to save for the down payment on a home,” Battaglia said. “When I tell them that I can help with that, their eyes light up.”
Battaglia said she’s been able to help homebuyers with as little as a few hundred dollars out of pocket – while not the norm, she says this illustrates just how powerful a program can be in changing rural Nevadans’ lives.
