Esteemed Chefs of Slanted Door LV and Stove LV Versus Cafe Americano Versus Mercato Della Pescheria Pair Up and Bring the Heat to Just Add Water Street
HENDERSON, NV – This Last Friday chef challenge doubles down with teams of two, as four local chefs off and on-Strip face off Fri., Aug. 30. The culinary competitors include Lanny Chin, Chef de Cuisine of Slanted Door LV and Antonio Nunez, Co-owner and Executive Chef of The Stove LV versus Harold Norris, Executive Chef of Cafe Americano and Nelson Berrios, Executive Chef of Mercato Della Pescheria. From 6-10 p.m., attendees will be able to peruse food and farmers market vendors, retail pop-ups, a petting zoo sponsored by the City of Henderson, live entertainment taking place throughout the night and a photo booth from Las Vegas Party Rentals. This month’s Last Friday will benefit Vitalant, the nation’s second largest community blood service provider. Donors that give blood at the on-site blood drive will receive a voucher to see FRIENDS! The Musical Parody at The D Las Vegas.
Just steps away from the main stage of the amphitheater of City Hall in Henderson, the teams of two will be provided proteins furnished by Mikuni Harvest. They’ll then have to create two plates in less than 45 minutes.
While locals will have a chance to cheer on some of Las Vegas’s most adored, local chef talent vying to claim victory, a stellar lineup of judges will sit front and center on the main stage. Included in the reserved set of three spots is Dianne Davis, Entertainment and Lifestyle Reporter for Sun City Anthem and Contributor to Splash Magazine. The second judge to occupy the table is Jay Bogsinske, Executive Chef of Hamptons LV at Tivoli Village. Davis and Chef Bogsinske will be escorted away as each chef team prepares their plate, only to return for a blind tasting to add to all the excitement!
Area sponsors include The City of Henderson and a few community-driven partners such as the Las Vegas Weekly, Findlay Volkswagen of Las Vegas, and Lotus Broadcasting. There is no general admission to the Last Friday, JAWS and is free to the public. The community festival and the live chef challenge kicks off at 6 p.m. Last Friday was founded to resurrect and celebrate the community’s emerging arts footprint.
