LAS VEGAS, NV – Tuff-N-Uff: The Future Stars of MMA, the premier amateur mixed martial arts promotion in the country, is holding an event at the famed Thomas & Mack Center located on the UNLV campus. The June 29 event will highlight some of the best and biggest upcoming stars in the sport. Doors to the event open at 5:30 p.m. with preliminary fights starting at 5:40 p.m. Tickets to the event are completely free and can obtained by visiting UNLVtickets.com.
Tuff-N-Uff CEO, Jeff Meyer is passionate about hosting this annual event in order to give back to the community that has been embracing Tuff-N-Uff since 2003. Meyer carries on his brother Barry’s legacy, who started Tuff-N-Uff 25 years ago, in Chicago, IL. Tuff-N-Uff and Meyer advocate for suicide prevention and provide fighters an environment to create a better life for themselves. He believes his brother created Tuff-N-Uff knowing it would be something special for all those involved. Local celebrity, Brett Raymer, formally of Animal Planet’s Tanked Series fame, is promoting this event designed to entertain for free, the whole community of Las Vegas!
The main event will feature Billy Elekana (6-0-1) from Las Vegas, NV versus Koby Jeffers (5-0) from Billings, MT for the Light Heavyweight titles. Local Elekana has been in the MMA for three years and trains out of Uprising MMA. Elekana passion for fighting started at a young age and has taken his craft more seriously in order to secure his family’s future, and for his late mother who lost her fight against cancer.
The co-main event will battle for the Heavyweight title where Shane Mapatis (11-0) from Fort Mohave, CA will face Ben Tynan (6-0) from Seattle, WA. Tynan, who originally hails from Canada grew up wrestling and won the Canadian Junior National Championship in freestyle wrestling. He went on to become a JUCO All-American and a D1 athlete at North Dakota State University. Tynan is currently undefeated in MMA and kickboxing and has not had a fight go pass the first round. *Fight card subject to change
