Who in your life has been instrumental to your success?
Dick Barnard has been a great mentor and supporter of my career. He believed in promoting women 50 years ago when he started the firm and I am proud to continue that mission.
What was your first job?
I worked at McDonald’s while I was in high school.
What do you want your legacy to be?
I have been instrumental in helping others find their career path and creating a firm culture that people wanted to be a part of. Family is important and we have created a culture that supports rich professional and personal lives.
What career advice would you give to your teenage self?
Don’t be afraid. Reach out to others and build a network. Even people in high places want you to be successful and they can help you succeed.
If you had to live in another country for a year, which would you choose and why?
I would go back to my roots in Germany. I was adopted from Germany as a baby and also lived there for four years in elementary school. I would love to spend some extended time there to get to know the culture.
What would be the title of your autobiography?
Growing up Navy. My mother passed away two years ago and I have developed a desire to explore my past. Growing up abroad, in various countries, impacted my perspective on life and what I could accomplish.
What three words would you want your worst enemy to use when describing you?
Trustworthy. Honest. Caring.
What is your motto?
I’m always doing the best I can. Balancing work and family can be difficult. Things are not always perfect in both worlds and priorities change. Don’t beat yourself up, bring the best of you to each aspect of your life.
What is your favorite thing about living in Nevada?
My family is here and we love to enjoy the outdoors. The northern Nevada community is embracing. Even as it continues to grow, people take the time to smile and say hello.
