As more and more incidents of hate are reported across the country and the world, Representative Susie Lee (NV-03) is lending her voice and support at this Sunday’s ADL Walk Against Hate presented by Barrick Gold. The family-friendly, multi-cultural walk and event, which celebrates and promotes diversity and inclusion, will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Springs Preserve at Valley View Blvd. and Meadows Lane.
“Our Southern Nevada community is strong because of the diversity of so many different cultures, religions, and languages,” said Rep. Lee. “I’m looking forward to participating in the Anti-Defamation League’s Walk Against Hate to celebrate our community’s diversity and make it clear that hate, bigotry, and intolerance have no place here.”
Now in its third year, the Walk Against Hate includes entertainment, speakers, booths, activities, and the community walk. Musical groups and performance artists will provide lively entertainment before the walk and throughout the course, which goes through the Springs Preserve’s desert habitats and Boom Town, a re-creation of the 1905 Las Vegas streetscape. Local schools also will be recognized for their “No Place for Hate®” bullying prevention and anti-bias initiatives.
More than 1,000 people are expected to attend.
Springs Preserve is located at 333. S. Valley View Blvd. Parking is free. Registration is required by visiting www.walkagainsthatelv.org. The price per person is $25 in advance and $30 per person on event day. Admittance for toddlers and younger children are free. The cost includes a special event T-shirt which also will permit attendees access to other areas of the Springs Preserve at no additional charge after the event.
