Nevada Donor Network and WGU Nevada are pleased to offer the “You Are Hope” Scholarship. Valued up to $2,000, this scholarship is available for Nevadans who wish to advance their education with a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a healthcare field. Both organizations partnered to show their support for the healthcare heroes of tomorrow.
“We are very excited to partner with WGU Nevada for this scholarship,” said Joe Ferreira, President and CEO of Nevada Donor Network, an organ procurement organization also responsible for facilitating tissue and cornea donation statewide. “It is an honor to be able to help the medical students of Nevada who are the donation champions and heroes of tomorrow by supporting their education.”
To be eligible for this scholarship, students must be a Nevada resident and be admitted into WGU Nevada. Scholarship applications are due no later than March 31, 2019 and can be submitted online. Both active throughout the state, Nevada Donor Network and WGU Nevada decided to offer this scholarship as a crucial step in supporting the medical field in Nevada. The state is experiencing a shortage of nurses, and as the communities grow, more nurses and healthcare providers will be needed to support the growing population.
“WGU Nevada is dedicated to educating tomorrow’s leaders,” said Chancellor Spencer Stewart of WGU Nevada. “Partnering with Nevada Donor Network to offer the scholarship aids us in fulfilling that endeavor. We want to support Nevadans as they make the decision to pursue an education in medicine.”
