Jobs for Nevada’s Graduates (JAG Nevada), a statewide high school dropout intervention and work readiness program, welcomed Eric Ruud as the new Director or Business Development for JAG Nevada in Reno, Nev. He will focus on collaborating with businesses in Nevada to help students find gainful employment and he will pursue funding for the JAG program.
“I am very excited to join the prestigious JAG program in Nevada,” said Ruud. “I am looking forward to building relationships throughout the state so students can learn of the many opportunities available to them upon graduation and so businesses can learn of the great potential that comes from the JAG program.”
Ruud’s background is diverse. He has a degree in Geology and has worked in many parts of North America, from the Arctic to the Tropics. Eric worked for analytical service companies, metallurgical companies, and Geotech engineering firms.
“Eric comes to JAG Nevada with a wealth of experience in business and industry, especially as it relates to mining,” said René Cantú Jr., Executive Director for JAG Nevada. “Not only that, he brings a wealth of experience and knowledge about the world of STEM and will help JAG students connect to key industries where job opportunities with bright futures abound.”
In his free time, Ruud is also an avid outdoors person. He loves to hike and enjoys the beauty of Nevada. He is also a professional skier and ski instructor who volunteers with the Sky Tavern Junior Ski program. The program teaches young people to enjoy snow sports like skiing and snowboarding while also helping them overcome challenges and learn leadership skills.
About JAG Nevada
JAG Nevada is a highly effective dropout intervention and work readiness program. The mission is to ensure students Graduate Work Ready. Through the program, students graduate not only on time, but prepared for life after high school and equipped with the practical skills necessary to be successful in the workplace, post-secondary education or the military.
