Northern Nevada emergency department project completed by leading general contractor
SR Construction recently completed the construction of the Banner Churchill Community Hospital Emergency Department (ED) Expansion project. This project consisted of a 6,000 square foot addition and complete renovation of the existing Emergency Department without interruption of the facility’s operations. The hospital is located at 801 E. Williams Ave., in Fallon, Nev.
“We commend Banner Health for their commitment to excellence and adaption to a lean and collaborative approach to mitigate many of the traditional hurdles and pitfalls plaguing traditional construction delivery,” said Joseph Garcia, senior project manager at SR Construction. “The industry requires true teamwork, collaboration, and buy-in to get everyone laser-focused on a successful outcome. We would not have been able to achieve this without having ownership support and a commitment to apply many of the LEAN principles utilized in all of our projects, an open mind to evaluate alternative ideas and a team willing to improve constantly.”
The newly expanded and renovated emergency department has nearly doubled the capacity of the existing facility and includes 13 private rooms for improved privacy and treatment, a new two-bay Major Treatment/Trauma room, and one isolation room. These improvements will significantly boost the current response time for treatment, provide a more secure and personal experience for patients and allow the staff and caregivers an environment to care for the community in the best way possible. The project was completed more than a month early, receiving its license for operation in late October, and was more than 6% under budget.
