LAS VEGAS – Legacy Traditional School – Southwest Las Vegas announced today it is now accepting applications for enrollment at the new campus located at 7077 West Wigwam Avenue. Parents are encouraged to fill out an application now so their child can be entered into the annual enrollment lottery for the 2019-2020 school year, which will be held on Jan. 3, 2019. Parents will be notified if their child has been selected.
“We are excited to bring Legacy’s well-rounded curriculum to the southwest community where there is a demand for school choice,” said Candy Farthing, superintendent. “We have received an overwhelming response from community members who are looking forward to having a Legacy campus close to their home.”
The new school will offer a unique range of sports and junior high electives like coding and robotics. The Southwest campus, which is tuition-free, will educate up to 1,450 students in grades K-8 and has a footprint of 95,000 square feet. The campus includes:
• 59 classrooms
• State-of-the-art culinary kitchen where lunch is served fresh daily
• Indoor artificial turf field
• Regulation-size hardwood basketball court
• Piano classroom with headsets to improve learning and retention
• Athletic fields, two separate playgrounds and offices
As the third location in the Valley, the Southwest campus joins Legacy Traditional School – North Valley and Legacy Traditional School – Cadence. Both campuses combined welcomed more than 2,500 students for the 2018-2019 school year.
Plans for Legacy Traditional School – Southwest Las Vegas were approved earlier this year by the Nevada State Public Charter Authority; Burke Construction Group is the general contractor.
