During a powerful community-wide third annual Day of Caring on Friday, October 5, 2018, more than 1,000 volunteers gave back at 78 local nonprofits and schools.
Wrapping up 1 October Remembrance Week, volunteers came together to build hope and healing by working side-by-side with elementary school students to build gardens and paint playgrounds, supported veterans by clearing walkways and painting inspirational murals, read to students, mentored youth in need and helped move the community forward and build resiliency. Many of these projects would not have been completed if not for the volunteers’ efforts on this day.
An unprecedented $75,500 was spilt among participating nonprofits and schools to increase the impact of the day and help cover the cost of supplies, thanks to Day of Caring sponsors Wells Fargo, Las Vegas Review Journal, Caesars Entertainment Corporation, Nevada Volunteers, Chase Bank, Greenspun Media Group, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Raiders, East West Bank, NV Energy, Robert Half, Simmons Group, Station Casinos and US Bank.
