LAS VEGAS – Craig Kirkland, executive vice president and director of retail banking at Nevada State Bank, is once again getting “pinked” in the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) annual Real Men Wear Pink campaign. Last year, he raised more than $6,000 to help fight breast cancer.
According to ACS, the men selected to participate in this campaign are influencers and community leaders who can both raise funds and raise awareness. ACS Southern Nevada’s RMWP campaign goal is $100,000.
Kirkland, an active participant in many local volunteer and community projects, hopes to raise critical funds for a cure for the more than 266,000 women and 2,500 men who will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year in the U.S.
“Like most people I know, breast cancer has touched my life,” Kirkland said. “Three of my colleagues were tested early, treated, and have been fortunate to beat breast cancer, all are still in remission. Anything I can do to help raise awareness, in addition to money for research, new treatments and potentially a cure for this disease, I’m in. I will ‘get pinked’ proudly.”
It’s his vision for the future of his family that also motivates Kirkland. He and his wife, Diana, have 4-year-old twin girls.
“Breast cancer is the second most commonly diagnosed cancer for women. I want to do all I can to ensure my girls have a healthy future that does not include cancer,” he added.
