That sexy beast, Austin Powers, “Oh behave!” (Local Emmy nominated, Award Winning impersonator, John Di Domenico) hosted the fundraising event that took over the entire 4th floor at Top Golf Las Vegas benefitting non-profit Create A Change. No boring dinners and speeches, just a lot of fun hitting golf balls and ‘Chipping Away at Childhood Obesity’ while featuring the amazing Lydia Ansel, Electric Violinist, DJ, and model, a red-carpet walk featuring the incredible The Tenors of Rock, Pro BMX Rider Ricardo Laguna, Sexxy Show’s Jennifer Romas, The Girls from Fantasy and the comedic genius Tape Face.
Austin Powers kept the atmosphere ‘groovy’ with a hosted cocktail bar, culinary delights, lively games, spiritual readings, magicians, and character artists and a bounty full raffle. It was a smashing event! Just under 300 friends and supporters of Create A Change attended a richly sponsored event including Land Rover/Jaguar Las Vegas, Southwest Gas Foundation, Balloons with a Twist, Brown and Brown Insurance, Southwest Medical Associates, Cox Communication, Urban Seed Foundation, U.S. Bank, 103 Yoga and State Restaurant Equipment.
Childhood obesity rates are rising nationwide and in especially in Las Vegas. Without proper nutrition, the body begins its path to disease, diabetes, and heart conditions later in life. Create A Change takes a proactive approach to health by preventing these things before they have a chance to begin. New research shows if they grow it, they’ll eat it. Create A Change adopts at-risk elementary schools and installs their Healthy School, Healthy Life Program that includes planting Edible Gardens, Chefs in Schools, Garden Classroom, Mindful Movements Yoga, and now the first interactive Health & Nutrition Curriculum approved by CCSD. Funds raised from this event help to continue to support these programs in more schools throughout the valley. Their Healthy School, Healthy Life program has contributed to winning the US Conference of Mayors 2017 Childhood Obesity Prevention Award, National 1st Place and the 2018 All American City Award.
