Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas (CASLV), a state-sponsored public charter school, announced the grand opening of its fourth campus in Henderson and sixth in the valley. The award-winning charter school opened its doors to welcome students for the 2018/2019 school year.
Formerly a University of Phoenix campus, the 40,000-square-foot building at 7777 Eastgate Road received $1,000,000 in renovations and is an identical floor plan to its sister campus in Centennial Hills. The new CASLV facility will serve up to 650 students in kindergarten through 7th grade, and create 40 new jobs in southern Nevada while helping fulfill the current high demand from Henderson families and prospective students. The classrooms are spacious, ranging from 800- to 900-square-feet in size, and feature windows which allows natural lighting. Average class sizes are 26 students per classroom, which is significantly lower than other local schools. Unique and STEM-focused electives and after-school clubs will be offered, such as Automation and Robotics, Green Architecture, Advanced Mathematics, Coding and Speech and Debate.
“We’re thrilled to expand in Henderson and open the new Coral Academy Eastgate campus,” said CASLV Executive Director Ercan Aydogdu. “The new facility helps to meet an overwhelming demand for another Science Technology Engineering and Math, also known as STEM, charter school in the area. Our goal is to continue our growth to meet these needs and offer the best education possible to our local youths. We look forward to continuing to serve the southern Nevada community.”
For more than a decade, CASLV has provided quality STEM-focused education to students across the Las Vegas valley. CASLV started its operation in 2007 at the Tamarus campus. During the first two years, CASLV built a stellar reputation that resulted in growing wait lists of 3,200 students to enroll. CASLV is currently taking applications for the Eastgate campus for the 2018-2019 school year online at http://www.caslv.org/admission/.
