Sparks – Northern Nevada Medical Group (NNMG) has announced the launch of its new pulmonary medicine specialty clinic led by board-certified internal medicine and pulmonary care providers, Aleem Surani, MD and Aaron Viray, MD. The new clinic will focus on advanced diagnosis and treatment options for patients managing lung and respiratory disorders.
“We are pleased to expand our scope of services, and provide local care to patients managing lung and respiratory disorders,” said Alan Olive, CEO of Northern Nevada Medical Center. “Pulmonary disease is a top health indicator in Washoe County, and with our new clinic, we anticipate meeting the community’s need for such services.”
The new pulmonary medicine clinic provides diagnosis and treatment for a range of lung and respiratory conditions from asthma, sleep apnea, interstitial lung disease and pneumonia, to COPD and lung nodules/lung cancer. Additionally, a common treatment procedure for patients suffering from lung disorders is a PFT.
Aleem Surani, MD is a medical school graduate from St. Georges University in Grenada. He completed his residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York. He is board certified in both pulmonary and internal medicine. Additionally, he has advanced skills in bronchoscopic procedures, airway management, and thoracic and vascular procedures. Dr. Surani was named Teaching Fellow of the Year from SUNY Downstate Medical Center School of Medicine, and is a published researcher on topics including COPD, sleep apnea, pulmonary disease, and more.
Aaron Viray, MD is a medical school graduate from St. Georges University in Grenada. He completed his residency in internal medicine, and fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York. He is board certified in both pulmonary and internal medicine. Additionally, he has advanced skills in bronchoscopic procedures, airway management, and thoracic and vascular procedures. Dr. Viray was named Resident of the Year and separately Intern of the Year by the department of medicine of SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He has published various medical journals, and presented to ore-clinical students during his time in residency and fellowship.
