On May 1, 2018, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Southern Nevada honored Henderson Mayor Debra March with the Glass Ceiling Award at its recent Women of Distinction Awards. This award is earned by a woman who has committed and demonstrated acts of breaking down barriers and securing opportunities for women to advance in their designated field.
Since 1998, the Women of Distinction Awards have honored women from all aspects of life for their work in improving southern Nevada’s business landscape. Mayor March has passionately and unequivocally demonstrated her commitment to advocacy for improving the lives of women throughout her entire career.
Debra March was sworn in as Mayor of the City of Henderson in June 2017. Always seeking ways to further women growth and development, March is participating in the Governing Institute’s 2018 Women in Government Leadership Program class. This is a national program that selects 25 women to participate every year. The yearlong program is designed to promote and support elected women leaders from across the nation.
This year’s awards honored thirteen women from a variety of industries in the 2018 categories. In order to be considered for a Women of Distinction Award, nominees must live and/or work in the southern Nevada region and champion the advancement of women.
