More than $2,000 in school supplies distributed and more
LAS VEGAS – This past November, the De Castroverde Law Group announced a Teacher Appreciation Award, given to teachers who have had an enormous impact on their students, leaving an impression that will last, or has lasted, way beyond graduation.
With teachers playing a huge role with partners Alex and Orlando De Castroverde, with both of their wives former elementary school teachers, and their sister currently a first-grade teacher, the De Castroverdes wanted to find a way to honor a few of the outstanding teachers who continue to shape the future of Clark County.
After receiving hundreds of entries, the winners were announced this week.
• Grand prize winner: Mr. Kevin Ford, Doral Academy, $1,000 for classroom supplies, plus a one-night stay and spa package (or equivalent value for dinner and incidentals) at the Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas.
• Runner Up: Ms. Rachel Kuntz, Jo Mackey Magnet School, $750 for classroom supplies, plus a $250 Amazon gift card.
• Honorable mention: Ms. Rocio Gonzalez, KO Knudson Middle School, $400 in classroom supplies, plus a $100 Amazon gift card.
“We were honored to present these deserving teachers with this award,” said Alex De Castroverde. “The nomination letters we received were touching, and shows how powerful teachers can be in the lives of their students, even years after the student moves on.”
