NCET names business leaders to board
Dave Archer has been re-elected as president and CEO of NCET, a member-supported non-profit that
produces educational and networking events to help people explore businesses and technology.
Jackie Shelton, APR, has been elected to the NCET board as its vice president of Biz Café, and Mikalee
Byerman and Andy Jorgensen have been re-elected to one-year terms on the NCET board.
Archer held executive positions in international product and market development at Viacom, Home Box
Office, AOL Netscape and Headlight before joining NCET.
He earned a master’s degree in business and bachelor’s degree in management from St. Mary’s College
in Moraga, Calif., and earned associate’s degrees in electronics engineering and broadcast engineering
from the College of San Mateo.
Archer also is co-founder of the Reno Angels, former chair of Entrepreneurship Nevada, and a member
of the Nevada System of Higher Education’s EPSCoR Advisory Committee.
Shelton works as vice president of public relations for the Estipona Group, a Reno-based marketing and
communications agency.
Her experience includes management of two marketing firms and publication of two magazines, RLife
and Family Pulse, as well as work as an editor for Comstock’s Magazine and several parenting
magazines.
Shelton is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno, and earned accreditation in public relations
from the Public Relations Society of America.
Byerman, who serves as NCET’s vice president for communications, is vice president of strategy for the
Estipona Group. She is the author of “100 Things to Do in Reno Before You Die” and has worked as a
writer and communication strategist in northern Nevada for two decades.
Byerman earned a bachelor’s degree in speech communication and a master’s degree in journalism from
UNR.
Jorgensen, who was re-elected as co-vice president of creative services for NCET, works as quality
control and IT specialist at Rehearsal, a local software company that develops a video-based skills
development platform that allows people to practice, coach, and collaborate with their teams on any
device.
A learning and technology expert, he also done work as a computer science teacher, K-12 education
technology director, state ed-tech program director, and graphic designer.
Jorgensen earned a degree in information systems from the College of Business at UNR.
