RENO, Nev. – The Reno/Sparks Association of REALTORS® (RSAR) announced its 2017 annual award winners at the association’s annual dinner on Saturday, November 18.
Winners included William Process, a REALTOR with Re/Max Premier Properties, who was named REALTOR of the Year for demonstrating high involvement and activity in RSAR, his business accomplishments and activity in local civic affairs.
Process served as president of RSAR in 2016 and has been active in RSAR as a committee chair and director. In 2018, he will serve as 2018 vice president of the Nevada Association of REALTORS®. In addition, he served as president of the Veterans Association of Real Estate Professionals – Northern Nevada, on the National Association of REALTORS® Professional Standards Committee and the Nevada Association of REALTORS® Board of Directors.
Deke McBride with Driggs Title Agency, received the Affiliate of the Year Award, recognizing his outstanding service and commitment to RSAR and the real estate industry. He served as chairman of the 2017 Events Committee for RSAR. Under his leadership, the members raised more than $21,000 for the Association’s designated nonprofit, Nevada Youth Empowerment Project.
The Educator of the Year Award was presented to Helen Graham, a REALTOR® with Re/Max Premier Properties, in recognition of her outstanding efforts in consistently demonstrating an exceptionally high standard instructing peers in the real estate industry. Graham has more than 12 years of experience in the real estate industry as an agent and trainer. Graham’s activities and accomplishments include serving as the president of RSAR in 2013, Nevada Association of REALTORS director, and she will serve as vice president of the Northern Nevada Regional Multiple Listing Service (NNRMLS) in 2018. This is the second year Graham has received the Educator of the Year Award.
Barbie Marcoe, a REALTOR® with Merlion Real Estate, was awarded the Mat Gibbons Good Neighbor Award, recognizing her high ethical and professional caliber, and for her distinguished volunteer service to the community. Marcoe established Lexie’s Gift (www.lexiesgift.com), a local group that collects personal hygiene products, diapers, coats, blankets, backpacks and art supplies and donates them to local charities like Volunteers of America, Veterans Resource Center, The Ridge House, Wish and Angels and more. Lexie’s Gift makes a point to donate to charities that do not sell the items but makes them available to those community members who need a helping hand. Lexie’s Gift was established in memory of Marcoe’s daughter, who was tragically killed in a car accident in 2016.
The President’s Award was presented to Gary MacDonald, a REALTOR® with Dickson Realty. This is the first year this award has been presented to a member who has demonstrated outstanding service to the community, government or the Realtor organization. MacDonald received the award for his extraordinary community service. MacDonald is a member of Rotary Club of Reno Central. He has served as the assistant district governor for Rotary District 5190, Area 8, as a member of the Reno Air Race Association Board of Directors from 2007 to 2012, and as a trustee for the Reno Air Race Foundation through 2012. In 2006, MacDonald served as president for WIN (Western Industrial Nevada) and was a board member for nine years. In 2017, he served on the RSAR Board of Directors, and in 2018 will serve as its legislative committee chair.
