NHL Practice Facility Named after City National Bank
City National has been named the official bank for the Vegas Golden Knights National Hockey League team. The team’s practice facility has now been named the City National Arena and the bank will be brand identified at the T-Mobile arena where the Knights will play during the regular season. City Nationals mutli-year partnership with the Knights will also give the bank one title game each season.
UNR-Hosted Program to Propel New Businesses
A “bootcamp” being hosted through the Innevation Center at the University of Nevada, Reno will provide young companies an opportunity to develop their business concepts. The six-week program is called Innevator 2017 and is funded by sponsors and investors. Innevator is designed for startups in the “Internet of Things” (IoT) space to develop prototyping, creative thinking, commercialization, seed-funding, planning and operations and customer engagement. Between six to eight startups are expected for the first class which begins in early October.
Home Prices and Sales Rising in Southern Nevada, Inventory Shrinking
According to the Greater Las Vegas Association of Realtors, home prices and sales continue to go up while the housing supply dwindles. The median price of existing single-family hones sold during July increased to $260,000, a 10.2 percent jump from the previous year. Local condos and townhouse sold for the same period jumped by 20 percent from the previous year to $138,000. Inventory for homes is down 31.9 percent from one year ago. Condo and townhouse inventory is down by 48.4 percent.
Nevada Treasurer Warns of Unclaimed Property Scam
The Nevada State Treasurer’s office has issued a warning regarding unclaimed properties. A fraudulent website has been charging fees to Nevadans retrieving unclaimed properties through the state office. The statement reminds Nevadans that retrieving unclaimed property is a free service that can be done directly through the Treasurer’s office.
