Founding SDMI on the philosophy of “If you practice great medicine, patients will follow”, Dr. Leon Steinberg, truly set the tone from Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging Centers (SDMI) inception in 1988, as they continue to set the standard in patient care today.
Building on Dr. Leon Steinberg’s philosophy, SDMI’s mission has always been: To provide an exceptional patient experience and diagnostic imaging services through compassion and cutting-edge technology.
As you walk through the hallways of any of their eight locations, visitors are greeted with colorful posters outlining SDMI’s Promise to Patients. These promises include commitments to patients from “welcome you with a smile,” to “accredited by the AAAHC and the ACR,” and “board-certified and sub-specialty trained radiologists” at each SDMI facility.
SDMI embodies its mission daily through its Promise to Patients. Whether a physician has referred a patient for an MRI, PET/CT scan, Mammogram or any of the modalities SDMI offers, a patient will find the most current imaging technology available for their healthcare needs at all eight SDMI locations.
As a Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence, this means patients can trust SDMI’s diagnostic imaging services are evidenced at the highest caliber. And as SDMI expands their accessibility to patients, they continue to update equipment furthering and introducing life changing technology to the valley, while maintaining their Promise to Patients.
The Toshiba Vantage Galan 3T, the very first MRI imaging machine of its kind in the United States was installed in April 2017 at SDMI’s Maryland Parkway (2950 S.Maryland Parkway) location. This pioneering technology will also be installed and accessible to patients at SDMI’s newest location in Henderson, opening July 2017.
“The Vantage Galan 3T is the culmination of 30 years of work on the part of SDMI and Toshiba Medical to build a super advanced MRI” said Dr. Mark Winkler, Founding Partner of Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging Centers.
Celesteion™ PET/CT imaging technology was installed at the SDMI Anthem (2850 Siena Heights) and Shadow Lane (800 Shadow Lane) locations in mid-2016. The Shadow Lane location is also part of the Las Vegas Medical District, thereby adding value to the reputation of the area dubbed the heartbeat of Las Vegas’ medical corridor.
“We strive to ensure our patients receive the highest quality of care by investing in new technology. By installing the new PET/CT imaging technology, the Celesteion TM allows us to accurately and quickly diagnose for more effective treatment,” said Denielle Lucas, Marketing Director for Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging Centers.
In 2015 SDMI installed Tomosynthesis, 3D Mammography, at all of its then seven locations, which was the largest install in Southern Nevada. SDMI researched this ground breaking technology and chose to install the GE Seno-Clare in an effort to reduce the amount of radiation patients receive.
And now just two short years later, as SDMI opens the doors to its eighth location, patients seeking mammography appointments will have access to an even newer generation of 3D mammography units from GE, the Pristina. This will be the first install in Nevada as SDMI works to replace all of their mammography units with the Pristina over the next few months. The Pristina will feature the same lifesaving 3D technology while incorporating a sleeker outline and patient comfort design.
“Perhaps the single most important advancement in medical imaging to benefit women is happening right now. 3D mammography revolutionizes how we read mammograms. We will find more cancers, have fewer call backs and cause less stress and anxiety to patients. I have been so fortunate to witness these tremendous changes and I am so excited and proud to help bring this new life-saving technology to women in Las Vegas,” said Dr. Aanshu Shah, Director of Women’s Imaging at Steinberg Diagnostic Medical Imaging Centers.
Although PET/CT, MRI and Mammography are the vanguard of current installations, SDMI carries their commitment through all of its modalities. In CT, SDMI employs advanced radiation reducing protocols which use AI (adaptive intelligence) to custom tailor the dosage to each individual’s body. Additionally, SDMI installed a new Angio Suite in 2015 at their Maryland Parkway (2950 S. Maryland Parkway) location and again in 2017 at their Northwest (2767 N. Tenaya Way) location.
SDMI is continuously researching the latest industry advancements as part of its mission and Promise to Patients, ensuring patients can trust they will always receive the best care and equipment for their healthcare needs.
As technology continues to improve, diagnostic imaging manufacturers must not only perfect image quality, but take into consideration patient comfort: MRI has increased the size of the bore to accommodate claustrophobic patients, most scanners now have larger more comfortable beds than their predecessors, and even mammography has evolved to allow patients to stand in a more comfortable resting position during their appointment.
SDMI’s patients can rest assured whether they are being seen for an annual healthcare checkup such as a mammogram, a follow up to a previous diagnosis or are visiting for a non-routine diagnostic checkup, their referring physician will receive the most accurate information because of SDMI’s commitment to patient care and providing patients with access to the forefront of imaging technology.
