University of Nevada School of Medicine Graduates Doctors, Releases Report
Last month, the University of Nevada School of Medicine held commencement ceremonies for the Class of 2016 in the Lawlor Events Center at the University of Nevada, Reno. The school graduated 66 students who will take a short break before beginning their residency training programs and are entering specialties that range from anesthesiology to otolaryngology. The School also recently updated their report, The Physician Workforce in Nevada which provides detailed information on the current supply of physicians in the state. The report included information on the the 5,726 actively licensed physicians in the state as well as new data on physicians.
Winnemucca & Elko Rank Among Top 10 for Green Transportation
According to data compiled by SaveOnEnergy.com, Elko ranked second overall in the medium sized cities for green transportation. The list was based on census data populations and Elko was included for the large number of residents who use green transportation including carpooling for everyday and the use of the California Zephyr for vacationing. Additionally, Winnemucca ranked first among small cities for overall rankings due to the city’s inclusion on multiple other rankings including first in public transportation and third for carpooling.
Southern Hills Plans Inpatient Psychiatric Facility
Southern Hills Hospital and Medical Center has announced plans for an 80-bed inpatient psychiatric facility which will be attached to its existing main hospital at the West Sunset Road campus. The facility is expected to open in 2017 and will expand the existing Southern Hills into a 266-bed hospital. The center is expected to cost $26 million and will act as a behavioral health center aimed at treating the lack of space and services for people dealing with everything from addiction and anxiety to other psychiatric disorders.
