Mother-Daughter Duo Recognized in the “Don’t Forget to Share” Category
Carson City – Pets of the Homeless, the only national nonprofit organization that is focused on feeding and providing emergency veterinary care to pets of homeless people, was recognized for their outstanding achievements as a family owned business and for making significant contributions to the community and giving back.
After witnessing the need for the homeless and their four-legged companions, Genevieve Frederick, founder of Pets of the Homeless, decided to step in and help. Ten years later, the organization has a network of nearly 400 collection sites in the U.S. and Canada, and has taken in more than 407 tons of pet food and supplies. In addition, Pets of the Homeless has helped treat nearly 13,000 pets at hospitals and clinics. Today, Genevieve and her daughter Renee, work tirelessly to help bring relief to homeless pets and their owners.
The Nevada Business Magazine Family Owned Business Awards began in 2010 as a way to recognize hardworking families throughout Nevada. Having honored more than 300 companies, the event has grown and pays tribute to businesses throughout the state. The Family Owned Business Awards program is sponsored by Nevada State Bank.
