Reno – Mike Hix, senior vice president of executive banking at First Independent Bank, has joined the board of directors of the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority (RSCVA).
Hix was confirmed during the board’s meeting on Thursday, May 19, 2016.
Founded in 1959, the RSCVA is responsible for promoting Washoe County’s convention and tourism industries. The organization is governed by a 9-member board of directors representing a variety of business and community groups.
Hix brings to the position nearly 35 years in banking and lending experience, as well as strong ties and knowledge of the local business community. First Independent Bank is a division of Western Alliance Bank.

Hix is a proud graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno where he received a degree in Finance. He is also a graduate of the National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma and the Pacific Coast Banking School at the University of Washington. Hix also donates his time to a number of nonprofit organizations including Secret Witness, The First Tee of Northern Nevada and the Sparks Rotary Club.
