The Nevada Association of REALTORS (NVAR) honored its leading members at an awards event in Las Vegas on Friday, naming longtime industry leader Kevin Sigstad as its 2015 Nevada REALTOR of the Year and recognizing others from around the state for their continued service to their association, their profession and their communities.
Sigstad, a longtime Reno REALTOR, served as NVAR’s 2015 president after being president-elect in 2014. He is also a past president of the Reno-Sparks Association of REALTORS (RSAR) and has volunteered on numerous RSAR and NVAR committees. He works at RE/MAX Premier Properties in Reno and holds the professional designation of CCIM, Certified Commercial Investment Member.
At its annual awards event held Dec. 11 at the Red Rock Resort in Las Vegas, NVAR also presented awards to the following longtime members:
• Sherrie Cartinella – Nevada Distinguished REALTOR Award for ongoing and consistent service to NVAR and the real estate profession. Cartinella, a member of the state Real Estate Commission, has lived in Northern Nevada since 1975 and been a REALTOR for 23 years. She owns Century 21 AA Active Realty in Sparks. She is a former member of the NVAR board of directors who has served on numerous state and local association committees and is a past regional vice president of the Women’s Council of REALTORS.
• Pam Reese – REALTOR Active in Politics Award for government affairs advocacy and activities. Reese was honored for playing a leading role in NVAR’s initiatives supporting private property rights and other causes that are vital to the industry. Reese, a native Nevadan who works at RE/MAX Realty Affiliates in Reno, is a LeadershipNVAR graduate who has served as the RSAR’s legislative chair and its liaison to the Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce.
• Rosa Herwick – Joe Nolan Award recognizing spirit, passion and professionalism in serving fellow REALTORS in Nevada. Herwick, of Century 21 JR Realty in Henderson, has been a REALTOR for more than 38 years. She is a past president of both the NVAR and Greater Las Vegas Association of REALTORS (GLVAR). She has served on numerous GLVAR and NVAR committees and has been a major contributor to the government affairs efforts of local, state and national associations.
• Greg Martin – REALTOR Achievement Award for outstanding service to local and state associations, as chosen by NVAR’s president. Martin, of Elko, will serve as NVAR’s president-elect for 2016 after serving as its treasurer in 2015. He is a past president of the Elko Association of REALTORS who has played a key role in the growth and success of the LeadershipNVAR program. He is a broker/salesman and business broker at Coldwell Banker Algerio Q-Team Realty in Elko, where he has lived since the 1960s.
