Smith’s Hosts Mother’s Day Shopping Event for Residents of The Shade Tree
Las Vegas, NV – In honor of Mother’s Day, Smith’s Food & Drug welcomed children from The Shade Tree to its North Las Vegas store at 2255 Las Vegas Blvd. North.
The children were paired with women from Smith’s new employee membership program, Women’s Edge, while they shopped for free Mother’s Day gifts. In addition to presents, the children also decorated large cookies, made cards and put together gift bags for their moms. While the children shopped and participated in the activities, their mothers enjoyed refreshments while a Smith’s pharmacist offered advice about ailments, illnesses and general health topics.
Women’s Edge aims to promote diversity, inclusion and create a sense of community among Smith’s associates, while engaging members in professional development, community involvement and events.
For more than 25 years, The Shade Tree has been dedicated to improving the lives of women, children and their pets affected by domestic violence and crisis in the Las Vegas Valley. As the largest and only 24-hour accessible shelter of its kind in Nevada, The Shade Tree provides help, healing and hope to more than 6,000 women, children and their pets each year. Smith’s strives to be a strong partner in the communities it serves. The women and children coming to Smith’s to shop for Mother’s Day are transitioning out of The Shade Tree into other housing and Smith’s wants to help them celebrate this transition with a free Mother’s Day shopping event for the families. While shopping, the children will also learn about adhering to a budget and ways to stretch a dollar at the grocery store.
