LAS VEGAS – Nevada State Bank, through a partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco, awarded a $20,000 AHEAD grant to James Seastrand Helping Hands of North Las Vegas. Nevada State Bank will administer the funds for the organization that assists low-income seniors.
James Seastrand Helping Hands of North Las Vegas’s Senior Necessities program will use the funds to purchase a box van for picking up food donations for seniors in need. The Senior Necessities program provides enrolled participants a bag of non-perishable food and paper goods once per month. Participants must be 60 years of age or older and have an annual income at or below 150 percent of current poverty guidelines. The program also provides fresh produce to anyone in the community in need on a weekly basis.
“Nevada State Bank is honored to help James Seastrand Helping Hands of North Las Vegas continue to provide valuable resources to seniors in our community,” said Drew Zidzik, senior vice president and community relations manager for Nevada State Bank. “We are thrilled to be able to help the organization further its mission.”
The Access to Housing and Economic Assistance for Development (AHEAD) Program grants are made to FHLBank San Francisco member financial institutions working with local community groups to support services and programs that benefit low- and moderate-income communities.
