LAS VEGAS – Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada (BGCSNV) has appointed two new leaders to their executive team. Brian Knudsen will now serve as President and CEO and Angel Williams will serve as Chief Development Officer.
In his capacity as President and CEO, Knudsen will lead BGCSNV as its chief executive in its mission to provide every child with equal access, hope and opportunity. Previously, Knudsen worked for the City of Las Vegas for eight years as a liaison with nonprofits and the education community where he successfully increased academic programming and food security for students in Downtown Las Vegas. Knudsen also developed and lead Downtown Achieves, a community effort that positions Nevada to be a national leader through a collective impact approach to academic success.
“Brian Knudsen has a proven track record of community collaboration in the key service areas of education, health, and wellness for children that are essential to BGCSNV programs,” said Ryder Donohue, BGCSNV Board Chairman. “Brian’s passion for serving children and his skill in building community relationships will position BGCSNV for our next period of growth.”
Knudsen’s growth strategy looks to immediately increase academic programming at BGCSNV by working with educational organizations such as the Clark County School District, University of Nevada Las Vegas, local governments and partner nonprofits to establish academic curricula specifically for BGCSNV children. Additionally, Knudsen will launch new community partnerships and build upon existing ones to ensure every family has access to quality out-of-school time programming for their children.
“Every child in Southern Nevada deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential. We can help them. We know parents need a safe place for their children to learn, play, and socialize during out-of-school time hours and we aim to be their preferred provider. I am elated to serve the community in my role as President and CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada and I will work tirelessly to ensure our children are successful,” said Knudsen.
Knudsen replaces outgoing President and CEO Ken Rubeli who will return to the BGCSNV operating board as Vice Chairman. Rubeli has also been appointed Trustee for the organization’s foundation. Rubeli was successful in leading the merger of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Henderson and Las Vegas to become a leading Southern Nevada nonprofit in service to children. Under Rubeli’s four-year tenure as President and CEO, BGCSNV was able to significantly grow its capacity to serve more children in a fiscally responsible way by opening five new locations without incurring debt or deficit spending.
Angel Williams, newly appointed to Chief Development Officer is responsible for creating and implementing a strategic development plan to increase funding of BGCSNV through individual, foundation, and corporate support. Williams will also lead the organization’s marketing, communications and event strategies. Previously, Williams worked for Miracle Mile Shops for 12 years serving as a liaison between the shopping center and its network of 200 retail, restaurant and entertainment merchants, as well as community and nonprofit organizations to develop and execute community campaigns and events raising awareness and funds for shared initiatives.
“Angel’s work in building community partnerships will serve Boys & Girls Clubs of Southern Nevada well as we look to expand our funding and partnerships to enhance programing and services for children,” said Brian Knudsen, BGCSNV President and CEO.
