LAS VEGAS – Mike Mixer, executive managing director of Colliers International – Las Vegas, announced the company has raised more than $6,000 for the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada through the charity’s SHINE For A Superhero 5K & 1 Mile Race with Chet Buchanan. The Links for Life Foundation, a nonprofit organization corporately sponsored by Colliers International, matched all donations raised by employees.
The charitable walk hosted by the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation was held on September 13 at Exploration Park at Mountain’s Edge. Funds raised during the event benefit the organization and its mission to provide support and services for families of children diagnosed with cancer.
Employees of Colliers International participate in the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation walk annually. This year, the company’s employees dedicated their efforts to Jessica Whiteaker the sister of Megan Zimmer, a former marketing project manager at Colliers International, who recently passed away.
Colliers International raised $2,500 through employee contributions and matched these donations with funds from the Links for Life Foundation. The company gave a total of $6,155, with additional contributions from outside sponsors.
“At Colliers, we remain avid supporters of the Candlelighters Foundation because of the great resources the organization offers for those affected by childhood cancer,” Mixer said. “Giving back to our community is essential to our company. We are extremely grateful to our employees for their generous contributions and unwavering support of our charitable efforts.”
Corporately sponsored by Colliers International, the Links for Life Foundation has contributed more than $2.2 million to local children’s charities, including Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Foundation of Nevada, St. Baldrick’s Foundation, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Three Square Food Bank and Create a Change Now, since its inception in 1995.
The Links for Life Foundation is funded by an annual golf tournament. Colliers International has also introduced additional events to allow more people to get involved and contribute to the company’s charitable endeavors. In addition to the golf tournament, Links for Life hosts poker tournaments, wine and dine charity dinners, and clothing and school supply drives.
Children’s charities and individuals in Southern Nevada that can put the Links for Life funds to good use may apply to be a beneficiary at www.LinksForLifeFoundation.org/Nevada.
