Desert Radiologists acquired an advanced imaging tool to catch breast cancer earlier.
The medical imaging provider is the only outpatient facility in Nevada to offer the technology, according to a recent statement. The provider is offering three dimensional mammography, called breast tomosynthesis, for breast cancer screening. Considered the latest in digital imaging technology, it allows radiologists to identify cancer sooner – when it is more treatable.
“We take our role of being on the front line in breast cancer detection seriously and are pleased to make breast tomosynthesis more accessible to women in Southern Nevada,” said Dr. Randal Shelin, president of Desert Radiologists.
“Similar to turning pages in a book, this three dimensional technology allows us to better identify and study images where there are areas of concern,” he added.
