A recent school supply drive in Pahrump generated 319 cubic feet of learning materials for children in 11 Nevada schools.
The seventh annual “Fill the Bucket Truck” drive, put on by Pahrump-based Valley Electric Association Inc. (VEA) collected donations at various locations in Pahrump on Aug. 17. Each donor received tickets for a chance to win one of 10 power bill credits, ranging from $25 to $100. The drive generated enough donations to fill 22 buckets, surpassing last year’s total of 15.
VEA communications coordinator Dax Whittle was pleased with the outcome. “These supplies will go a long way in helping local kids achieve the best educational experience, and we’re extremely grateful to our members and the Pahrump community for their continued support and generosity,” he said.
The 11 schools receiving the supplies are located in three counties (the company’s service territory) in southwestern Nevada.
