How did you first get into your profession?
My love for finance and the stock market began in high school. We played a virtual stock market game in a math class and I was hooked and I knew that this would be my career. After graduating college I took my first job in the industry with Fidelity Investments. After a few years in the industry, I discovered my attraction to the planning side of finance and that is what lead me to become a certified financial planner professional.
What do you like most and least about your industry?
The thing I like most is being a problem solver. No two clients are the same, so every day is different. Everyone’s situation and circumstances are different so there is no “one size fits all” approach. The thing I like the least about the financial services industry is that we are dealing with things outside of our control (i.e. stock market). We have to model on assumptions and that is where it is tricky. There are no guarantees and that is sometimes hard for clients to overcome.
