Business Bank of Nevada Becomes City National Bank
Business Bank of Nevada began doing business as City National Bank. City National and Business Bank announced plans to join forces in November 2006 and completed their merger on February 28, 2007. All of the bank’s clients in Nevada will enjoy full access to an expanded array of financial solutions, including wealth management, private banking, international banking services, entertainment and cash management. “Our newly combined company blends the best of both banks to bring greater capabilities and complete world-class financial solutions to Nevada’s entrepreneurs and professionals,” said Russell Goldsmith, chairman and chief executive officer. The new City National banking office is located at Hughes Center in Las Vegas.
Nevada Solar One Project Largest in the World
Nevada Solar One, located in Boulder City, the largest-capacity solar power plant built in the world in 16 years and the third largest of its kind, has begun supplying power to the Nevada Power grid. The plant represents an investment of more than $250 million. Acciona Solar Power built Nevada Solar One over the course of 16 months. The 64-MW solar thermal power plant covers 400 acres in the Eldorado Valley adn utilizes parabolic trough technology to enable heat transfer from the sun’s rays to ultimately generate up to 134 million KW hours of electricity per year, enough to power 15,000 households annually. All of the plant’s electricity production is being sold to Nevada Power Company and Sierra Pacific Power Company under long-term power purchase agreements.
EMBARQ Ranks Highest in J.D. Power and Associates Study
Within its first year as a stand-alone company, EMBARQ announced that its voice services ranked highest among large enterprise business customers, according to a J.D. Power and Associates 2007 Major Provider Business Telecommunications Study. The company achieved this ranking by scoring highest overall with large enterprise businesses in these critical factors: performance and reliability, cost of service, offerings and promotions, sales representatives and account executives, company image and billing. The study measures satisfaction among small, mid-size and large business customers in the U.S. with local telephone service providers. EMBARQ received the highest ranking among large enterprise businesses (companies with 500 or more employees).
Jet Source to Open New Facility in Nevada
Jet Source, a full-service aviation firm, announced its plans to build a second facility in Henderson. The facility will consist of two 35,000-square-foot hangars and an executive terminal. Jet Source will specialize in aircraft charter, aircraft management, maintenance, avionics and sales/acquisitions. With previous experience leveraging solar solutions to conserve energy and reduce costs, Jet Source will also incorporate green technology solutions in its Henderson facility.
EDAWN Reports $3.5 Billion in Economic Impact
The Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN) reported that, since 2002, it has assisted 171 companies move, expand or remain in the region generating 7,615 new jobs. The result is a $3.5 billion economic impact to the area over the past five years. EDAWN has increased the annual economic impact by 200 percent benefiting regional communities by building a base of tax revenue for state and local governments to help fund schools and local services.
Krump Construction Inc. Joins Sundt Construction Inc.
Krump Construction Inc. announced that the company will join in a strategic relationship with Sundt Construction Inc. Sundt Construction is one of the 100 largest construction companies in the United States and builds projects for both private and public clients. Projects include educational facilities, hospitality, healthcare, government facilities, office buildings, mixed-use projects, retail centers and multi-family housing. Krump will continue all projects currently in progress. Schedules and project staff will remain unaffected. Any new projects will be pursued under the Sundt name.
YMCA to Operate Centennial Hills Community Center
The YMCA of Southern Nevada was awarded the contract to operate The City of Las Vegas Centennial Hills Community Center, a 98,000-square-foot community center under construction at 6601 N. Buffalo Dr. in the northwestern Las Vegas Valley. Located on 18 acres in Centennial Hills Park, the facility is the largest leisure center in the city. It will feature two outdoor swimming pools, two indoor pools, two gymnasiums, a fitness and dance room, weight room, game room, teen area, computer lounges, craft room and multi-use room. It is expected to open this summer
