Dr. Anthony Pollard founded Rainbow Medical Centers in 1989. What began as a single clinic has expanded to seven locations to service the medical and health needs of residents throughout the Las Vegas Valley. The clinics have been strategically positioned to ensure that healthcare is conveniently available in all areas of Southern Nevada, including the fast-growing outlying regions. The medical centers offer family practice services as well as urgent care for minor emergencies. They have extended hours, are open on weekends and welcome walk-ins.
Rainbow Medical Centers are the first independent family practice/urgent care facilities in Southern Nevada to receive accreditation by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations. Achieving accreditation means the clinics have been recognized for complying with rigorous national performance standards that promote quality healthcare delivery. The Joint Commission is comprised of leading national healthcare organizations and associations – the American Medical Association, the American Hospital Association, the American College of Surgeons, the American College of Physicians and the American Dental Association. The Joint Commission’s stated mission is to improve the quality of care provided to the public.
Rainbow Medical Centers sponsor a Health at Work program to bring healthcare education to the workplace. One-hour on-site programs taught by physicians and licensed healthcare professionals include such key topics such as: stress management, nutrition and exercise, fighting depression, heart health, diabetes management, workplace safety and smoking cessation. Through Health at Work, the company is also furnished with collateral materials designed to help market the program within the business. In addition, all employees receive regular Health at Work newsletters to keep them apprised of the latest in wellness information.
“Bringing health education into the workplace engenders positives for all. A company’s owners, employees, their families and even the firm’s clients benefit when workforce health is maximized,” said Pollard. The program is free for large employer groups. Big companies taking advantage of Health at Work receive discounts on Rainbow Medical Centers office visits for new employees not yet covered by the firm’s insurance plan.
“Employees are a firm’s most valuable asset,” said Pollard. “Protecting their health will vastly impact a company’s work environment and bottom line alike. Depending on a company’s size, it may be losing anywhere from $300 to $1,000 annually per employee due to absenteeism, according to federal statistics.” For large companies, such significant dollar amounts can quickly add up, affecting every facet of a business and its productivity. For small businesses, such losses are virtually unsustainable if they are widespread and recurrent.
Pollard received his Doctorate of Osteopathy in 1983 from Oklahoma College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Tulsa, Okla. He then interned at Riverside Osteopathic Hospital in Wichita, Kan., and went on to serve his residency as a flight surgeon at the Naval Aerospace Medicine Institute in Pensacola, Fla. Pollard continued his duties as a naval flight surgeon until relocating to Las Vegas in 1988. He is board certified in family practice in both Nevada and Oklahoma and is affiliated with all major hospital facilities in Las Vegas.
Pollard and his wife Diane founded the Anthony L. Pollard Charitable Foundation, which gives “Rainbow Dream Scholarships” to graduating high school seniors throughout the Clark County public school system. The foundation has awarded over $100,000 to students through this program over the last 10 years. In addition, he is involved with the Second Baptist Church, where he has donated funds to support medical and religious displays for children. The Pollards also coordinated this year’s Las Vegas Juneteenth Festival, and have donated books to the Alpha Kappa Sorority’s graduate advisory training program.
