Myrio Corporation’s software helps to close the digital divide. Myrio’s digital convergence software platform and network solutions enable telecommunications network operators to deliver advanced value-added services to their subscribers over any Internet protocol infrastructure. This system allows subscribers to select, use and track usage of their digital services — from television to pay-per-view, games to Web access, and more — all through a dedicated set-top box and a TV. It’s television for the new millennia: customized, personalized and interactive.
The Myrio software platform and systems solution will enable CC Communications, an independent Churchill County phone company, to offer digital TV, DVD-quality video on demand, high speed Internet access to the television and computer, and telephone service all at the same time via existing phone lines. Efficient use of bandwidths, delivering two simultaneous video streams over a single ADSL line, means a subscriber may view a variety of television channels or video on demand, with the flexibility to surf the Internet on a PC or the television, all while talking on the telephone. And it only takes a single line into the home.
Myrio Corporation is a full-service infrastructure provider that aggregates the software, hardware, content, systems integration and professional services that enable its customers (telecommunications network operators and utility companies) to cost-effectively deploy a variety of services over a single phone line.
Myrio Interactive is a combination of middleware and presentation subscriber software modules, specifically designed and developed by Myrio Corporation, for use on a variety of set-top boxes. The software modules installed on the client box are configured automatically upon installation in the subscriber’s home. After initial installation, all software components and configuration files are periodically updated to reflect current program information and service upgrades. Myrio’s standards-based technology eliminates the need to guess where technology and applications may go, since future technologies will be Internet Protocol aware. With innovative software architecture that is flexible and easily customized, Myrio allows the network operator to rapidly increase its range of services.
CC Communications has been the Alpha/Beta test site for the Myrio platform. Don Mello, general manager of CC Communications says, “We selected the Myrio software platform and system solutions because it is a turnkey, end-to-end solution which incorporates and integrates the software platform and hardware components to our existing copper network architecture saving us costly infrastructure upgrades.” Myrio enables CC Communications to introduce services that local cable providers have yet to roll out. Subscribers will be able to create packages that best meet their needs and navigate through current and future programming.
The initial phase of the Myrio installation will be deployed in September to 500 subscribers. “We anticipate signing up 1,000 subscribers by the end of the year,” says Dale White, business development manager of CC Communications. “Keeping the initial phase at 500 gives us time to ramp-up for subscriber installations.”
CC Communications currently provides a full range of voice and data services to its 14,000 residential and business subscribers. Since 1889, the company has been successful in designing, building and managing complex and sophisticated data networks. “We anticipate that our subscribers will embrace CC Communications’ new offerings,” says Mello, “and we will become their one-stop-shop for the bundled package of voice and entertainment services.” CC is dedicated to diversifying and staying on the leading edge of technology. “We’re excited to be in the forefront of convergence of voice, video and data,” said Mello. And Myrio is going to take them there.
