Nevada Business Journal now offers two ways to rank our state’s businesses — Ranking Nevada. In addition to our TopRank Nevada Book of Lists, we are publishing Nevada’s Choice: The Best of Nevada Business. In this issue, we begin this valuable new service, not only for our readers, but for people across the nation interested in learning about the best companies in our state. In place of TopRank Nevada listings, we will feature Nevada’s Choice. (TopRank Nevada will still be available online and in digital format.)
Rather than ranking companies according to traditional methods such as annual revenue or total employees, Nevada’s Choice will be based on popular votes registered at our Web site. We want to know which companies you would recommend doing business with, so we can pass that information on to our readers. Nevada’s Choice will highlight the top vote-getters for each type of business: Best Bank, Best Private Golf Course, Best Public Relations Firm, etc. Voting on all categories will continue throughout the year, and the results of the year’s votes will be published in a must-have annual reference book.
Each issue of Nevada Business Journal will feature the results of our Nevada’s Choice public opinion poll in certain categories. We begin in this issue with the results of voting on wireless and telecommunication companies. Since this is the first month of voting, we expect to report only a small number of ballots, but as word gets around, we’re confident people will soon get into the spirit of competition and engage in a vigorous voting war.
With year-round visibility, we know the Nevada’s Choice directory will be kept and referred to time and time again. We hope you will use it as a reference to guide your business selections throughout the year. We are looking forward to having fun, seeing which companies do the best job promoting themselves and getting out the vote. We hope you will join in as well, not only in encouraging votes for your company and your clients, but also in taking the time to fill out your choices in the categories that matter most to you.
If you don’t like how the voting turned out for any category in the monthly magazine listing, then be sure to VOTE and encourage your friends and co-workers to register their opinions as well, so they can be registered in the first annual Nevada’s Choice book next summer.
To place your vote, go to our Web site, www.nbj.com, select the “Ranking Nevada” button in the black taskbar on the main page and choose “Nevada’s Choice.” Simple, pull-down lists for each type of business will enable you to select your favorite companies. If you think we have left off a company you want to honor, please add it to our list. There is a button to click on the bottom of the page, and you can enter basic information on the company — it will be instantly added to the list in whatever category you choose. It’s that simple! This will be an ongoing process throughout the year, and will help us get an even better idea of the range and diversity of Nevada’s businesses.
Because we know TopRank Nevada information has been, and will continue to be, a valuable resource for our readers, the information will still be collected, updated and compiled. It will be available in digital format. You can still receive a FREE company listing and enter your company’s TopRank Nevada information on our Web site by selecting the “Ranking Nevada” button on the main page and choosing “TopRank Nevada.” The new 2001 TopRank Nevada Book of Lists may be purchased by calling our subscription department at 702-735-7003, ext. 21. Better yet, visit our Web site, www.nbj.com, select the “Subscription” button on the main page and order your Book of Lists online.
Nevada’s Choice: The Best of Nevada Business will soon join TopRank Nevada as a valuable resource for new companies and people seeking information about them. Not only will it allow featured firms and advertisers in the book to promote the good news about their companies, it will be a great resource for all residents, especially newcomers, who want to find the best Nevada has to offer. In addition, both Books of Lists will be available outside Nevada and will serve as an overview of Nevada’s companies.
We invite you to log on and let our readers know all about the Best of Nevada Business.
