On October 7, 2006, Solar powered and energy efficient homes and buildings in Southern Nevada and across the country will be open for public tours. It’s all part of the upcoming National Solar Tour. The tour offers local residents an opportunity to find out how their neighbors are trimming their energy bills and increasing their energy security.
Thousands of solar homes and buildings across the country will be open for public tours.
The Southern Nevada Solar Home Tour will include up to fifteen locations including several homes, schools and commercial sites across the valley. It will feature examples of renewable energy systems, energy and water efficiency, alternative construction, green building, and healthy interiors. Last year’s tour was a sell out success!

The tour kicks off at The Gardens at the Springs Preserve, located at 3701 W. Alta Drive (east of Valley View Blvd., near 95). Informational exhibits will be open from 9 AM – 12 noon at The Gardens and the self-guided Solar Home Tour runs from 10 AM until 4 PM.
Tour cost is $15 per vehicle and car pooling is enthusiastically encouraged. Hybrid/ alternative fuel vehicles receive a $5 discount and a $2 discount is available for those who pre-register via the Solar NV web site at www.solarnv.org.
