Tribe Names Kerry New Administrator

Nancy Kerry has been named Tribal Administrator for the Washoe Tribe of Nevada and California. She is responsible for managing the day to day administration of the tribe’s business and government operations under direction from the tribal council and serves as advisor to the elected representatives.

Kerry holds both a master's degree in public administration and a bachelor of science in criminal justice from San Diego State University. She also earned associate's degrees in business administration and liberal arts from San Diego City College.

The South Lake Tahoe resident has experience as a local government manager, is an effective human resource administrator and an attentive communicator.

Before joining the tribe, she was Assistant to the City Manager of Solana Beach, California, where she oversaw a variety of government programs and human resources. She has a background in training, customer service skill building and executive team development. Prior to Solana Beach, Kerry also served as a senior analyst for the San Diego Association of Governments, where she specialized in human and organizational development and business solutions. She was also an analyst for the San Diego District Attorney.

"Chairman Walker and I will be working closely with staff and community to continually improve the way the tribe does business and serves its customers. We are in an exciting time for the tribe with plenty of new beginnings," Kerry said. "My job will be to help everyone achieve that vision and to identify and carry out the objectives of the tribal council. I'll be working closely with elected officials and managers of other governments on behalf of the tribe."

"Nancy has been an important asset in the transition for the new council because she has a broad background in governmental administration," said Walker. "She will be carrying out the details of the plans we have for the tribe and we are glad to have her as part of our team."
