Take One- Kids Learn the Fun of Fine Art
Release Date: December 18, 2006
50 Local Foster Children Reunite with Siblings to Enjoy a Day of Acting and Drawing
Las Vegas, Nevada - Children love to act, making up stories to create new and wonderful lands to visit with outrageous characters and unusual scenes. On Saturday, February 10, 50 foster children will reunite with their siblings for a day of play including a fabulous acting workshop and a hands-on art activity to fill the imagination.
This Child Focus sibling reunification event begins at Child Haven in the morning with the children working on an art project. "We believe that an art activity will have a two-fold effect for these children, giving them a piece of art to present to their sibling at the end of the day, a keepsake of sorts, along with giving the kids an opportunity to release their feelings through art," says Sherry Brock, Executive Director of Child Focus.
Participants will then enjoy a delicious lunch before taking a bus to The Reed Whipple Cultural Center where they will meet with a team of actors and instructors from The Rainbow Company from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and partake in an acting workshop.
"Thanks to the generous support of a Child Focus sponsor, the children will be able to enjoy a day of fine art-from creating art to creating theater," says Brock.
The Rainbow Company is a nationally acclaimed and award winning youth theater group which operates under the City of Las Vegas Cultural Affairs Division. The Rainbow Company is dedicated to creating quality children’s theater productions for the youth of Nevada and is currently enjoying its 30th season.
