Gallagher Associates to Lead Fundraising Efforts

LAS VEGAS - The Smith Center for the Performing Arts, the world-class performing arts center scheduled to open in 2011, has selected Gallagher Associates to further develop and implement the center's fundraising efforts.

Gallagher Associates was founded by John Gallagher, who previously served as the Executive Director of the UNLV Foundation and Vice President of Development for UNLV.

"We're excited to be working with John and his team to formalize and implement a comprehensive and broad-based fundraising program to support the construction of The Smith Center," said Myron Martin, President of the Las Vegas Performing Arts Foundation. "I know of no one more qualified than Gallagher Associates to manage a campaign of this magnitude and importance for the Southern Nevada community."


The Smith Center for the Performing Arts is a public-private partnership located on 4.75 acres set aside by the city within the 61-acre parcel of undeveloped land formerly owned by the Union Pacific Railroad. The $250 million facility will be situated to the southeast of the "spaghetti bowl," north of Bonneville Avenue across Grand Central Parkway from the World Market Center in the center of the Union Park development.

The Smith Center's magnificent main hall-scheduled to be completed in 2011-will feature more than 2,000 seats for large touring productions and music, theater and dance performances. The complex will also include an elegant theater with more than 600 seats for intimate performances, and a studio theater seating approximately 300 for children's shows, jazz, cabaret, rehearsals and community events. The complex will also feature inviting lobbies with beautiful balconies, refined acoustics and a tastefully landscaped plaza linking surrounding restaurants, shops and offices in downtown's Union Park. The Smith Center will be a living room for the community; a place that will educate, entertain and excite the citizens of our great community.
