Boy Scouts of America, Nevada Area Council appoints first female council president

Reno, Nev., (March 26, 2007) - The Boy Scouts of America Nevada Area Council has elected Lori Lunak as its 2007 council president, making her the first woman to hold this position in the 83-year history of the council. In her new role, she will be the top volunteer leader of the council serving over 14,500 youth in 23 counties, spanning a territory of more than 100,000 square miles.
The young men and women of the council are provided programs by more than 3,500 dedicated adult volunteers in 534 Cub Scout Packs, Boy Scout Troops, Varsity Teams, Venturing Crews, Explorer Posts and Leaning for Life. The board of directors, under Lunak's leadership, is responsible for securing financial resources to support quality council programs, the recruitment and development of adult volunteers, community relations and financial stewardship.
Lunak has supported the Nevada Area Council since 1998 and has held a number of positions on its board of directors, including strategic planning, finance, membership/learning for life and marketing.
In addition to the Boy Scouts, Lunak has served in leadership roles for a number of other community organizations including Junior Achievement, United Way, Reno/Sparks Chamber of Commerce, Nevada State Fair, and the Wells Fargo Teachers' Partner Program.
Lunak has been a Wells Fargo team member for 19 years and currently leads the Private Banking division in northern Nevada. Comprised of more than 10 professional members, the Wells Fargo Private Banking team offers customized banking and credit services as well as financial risk management to Private Client Service’s customers in northern Nevada. For her outstanding contributions to her community, Lunak is regularly recognized with Community Volunteer Awards from Wells Fargo.
