LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - Cumorah Credit Union is pleased to announce the opening of their 8th Nevada branch and new corporate headquarters. Located at 2651 Paseo Verde Parkway in Henderson, the new Cumorah Plaza represents the credit union's forty-plus years of vision, expertise, and dedication to serving its members.
The Credit Union purchased 3 acres in 2003 at the intersection of St. Rose Parkway and Paseo Verde Parkway to address insufficient capacity for their Green Valley Branch, and to supply additional office space for corporate needs. Rapid growth had required an additional office be rented across town, which divided back office operations.
"When I first came to Cumorah 17 years ago I was faced with a large building project at our Eastern Office. The Credit Union has used that facility to house the bulk of our corporate staff ever since" said Tony Mook, President and CEO. "We saw the need several years ago to take another leap forward, and thanks to our Board of Directors, were able to purchase land and start this building project - and begin this new chapter in our history. Our members in the Henderson area will be well served by this new facility."
Design and planning of Cumorah Plaza started in 2005 by JMA Architects. Cumorah broke ground on the new 43,000 square foot building on April 6, 2006 with Boyd Martin Construction as General Contractor. The main floor of the building is comprised of a 5,000 square foot branch location known as Paseo Verde, and 18,000 square feet of retail space. Approximately 70 administrative and support personnel will be reunited and occupy the 2nd story of Cumorah Plaza with room to grow.
Kim Taufer, Senior Vice-President and Chief Operations Officer, states: "We have increased our ability to serve our loyal members in the Green Valley area with extended drive-thru hours, an awesome location, and concierge level service. The close proximity of the largest Deseret Book Store in the valley, as well as the beautiful new city park next door, adds plenty of reasons for members and their families to stop by and enjoy their new branch."
Steele Hendrix, Vice-President and Chief Technology Officer, added: "We are excited about the opportunities this new location will provide us. We know our members will benefit from the larger branch and we will benefit from improved communication and operational efficiencies. Paseo Verde is a great platform to launch Cumorah Credit Union into the future."
Cumorah Credit Union was established on October 10, 1965. It is a state-chartered credit union serving members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints residing in the state of Nevada. A merger in December, 2006 with Kolob Credit Union allows Cumorah to serve those who work or live in the city of Henderson as well.
