Contact: Shelley Mansholt
Mission Industries, southern Nevada's leading commercial linen-textile-laundry suppliers for the gaming-resort-casino and food-beverage industries, announced the executive appointment of Grover W. Ferguson as President and Chief Executive Officer. In this role, he holds an equity partnership and is positioned to help maintain the company's long-time reputation as an industry leader and advance it to future success.
Ferguson's career spans nearly 50 years in the linen and uniform rental industry and his experience has garnered him expertise in virtually every capacity, ranging from the plant floor to the executive suite. He founded Rental Uniform Service in Ohio in 1970, and four years later he and a partner started Omni Services to oversee his expanding company's rapid growth with the creation of northern and southern divisions. Ferguson guided Omni south to spectacular growth, including purchasing a troubled commercial laundry in fast-growing Atlanta. Within five years under his leadership, the Atlanta plant was producing in excess of $26 million in annual sales, facilitating an additional 18 companies across the Southeast and Texas generating more than $65 million in annualized sales. In 1980, Ferguson and his partner sold Omni Services to Elis, a French company. He remained with the company as Vice President of Omni with responsibility for developing new business opportunities in the U.S. and France.
In 1989, he rejoined Rental Uniform Services as President, overseeing the sale of that group in 1993 to one of the industry's leading companies. Ferguson then worked closely with G&K Services as a consultant providing management services. He later joined G&K as a General Manager Mentor and special assistant to the President/CEO. During this time, he played a role in one of the largest acquisitions in the history of the industry - the purchase of National Linen Services' 32 locations and more than $227 million in revenues. He managed the Linen Division following this acquisition, which consisted of 10 plants generating more than $90 million in annual revenues, and sold the division within 10 months to Tartan Textile Service. Ferguson joined Tartan as President and COO in 1997, managing nearly $200 million in annual sales. He rejoined G&K Services in 2000 as Vice President of Acquisitions and was involved in the acquisition of approximately 30 companies representing more than $300 million in annualized revenues. In addition, Ferguson has established 29 new facilities during his career. All of which he arranged financing, purchased real estate, oversaw construction, purchased and managed all equipment installation, as well as supervised staff training.
