Banking On It
Local groups such as the Boys and Girls Club, 4-H, the senior center and Great Basin College benefit from the bank’s outreach efforts and financial support. It is also a key sponsor of the Elko County Fair and Livestock Show. "We really believe in giving back to the community and helping it grow," said Sullivan, who served for 10 years on the Advisory Board for Great Basin College, an important partner in Elko County’s efforts to develop a skilled workforce. Bank officers have served for many years on local boards and committees, including the United Way and the Elko Chamber of Commerce.
Along with the downtown Elko location, a branch in Winnemucca was opened in May of 2001, and construction of a new branch is planned in Elko on the corner of Mountain City Highway and Connelly Way. According to Sullivan, this new Elko location can be described as a "super branch," with an 8,000-square-foot facility that will include drive-up window service. The full-service branch will provide room for all traditional bank services, including a loan department to serve the growing community. The bank plans to break ground on the new building this fall, near the future site of a Home Depot. "We plan to maintain a full downtown presence in addition to the new branch location. We are expanding to take care of our growing community," said Sullivan. "We are excited to contribute to the economic development in the Elko and Winnemucca areas, and are looking forward to being part of that sustained growth for the future."
